Setting My March 2024 Art Challenge

In November 2023 I attended a one day workshop in Amsterdam with Sarah Van Dongen, and had a great time. She impressed on me that art should be fun, that I should be more fearless in playing with materials and experimenting to see what might happen.

For the first time in a long time, I picked up some oil pastels – just a selection of cheap ones she’d thrown around the table, and I had the best time fill a page with this gorgeous color.

Of course, with this in mind, it makes sense to dedicate March – a month when I won’t be traveling at all – to practicing oil pastels.

I’m not sure how I’ll get on, but I’m always up for developing skills, even if its using a material I find quite ‘,’messy’ to work with!
