A tour of my finished A4 sketchbook - August 2023 until February 2024

A4 Sketchbook Flip Through

I love a sketchbook flip through, and this is a peek inside my recently finished A4 sketchbook. I love the whiteness of the paper in this Talens cork covered sketchbook, though others find the paper stock a different quality to the more cream versions.

At the bottom of this blog is the video of my flip through, which went up on my YouTube channel in case you’d rather watch that.

Something I love to do in my sketchbooks no matter their size is test out art materials. On the photo below you can see that one page used Winsor & Newton professional watercolors while the second uses Daniel Smith watercolors.

The white paper in the Art Creations sketchbook handles water based brush pens very well – below are two sketches using Tombow brush pens. I LOVE how vibrant this spread is!

Garden inspired sketches I painted in my A4 talens sketchbook

I started the below sketch during Inktober month, working from a photo I had taken locally that summer. It’s quite a simple version of the photo – but isn’t that why we draw, to have something that isn’t as realistic as a photo?

I often take myself to cafes – or even just a park bench – and sketch people waiting around. Working as quickly as possible to capture the basic form before mu unsuspecting models under off…

This drawing of my dad started so well.. until I added facial features. Then it went quite wrong!

Have you used this sketchbook before? What did you think of the paper in it? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
